Short answer: on 2026-10-31 only Yesim listed 1 and 2 day plans, EUR 3.50 and EUR 7.00. For 3 to 10 days Airalo’s page showed the same price or less, by up to EUR 3.00. From 15 days Yesim’s page showed less, by EUR 1.50 at 15 days and EUR 2.00 at 30. We have not tested either one.
We read the Italy pages of Airalo and Yesim in a browser on 2026-10-31 and saved a screenshot of each. An eSIM is a data plan you install with a QR code instead of a plastic SIM card, the chip that identifies your phone to a mobile network. It needs a phone that supports eSIM and is not locked to one carrier.
Which is the best eSIM for Italy?
There is no single best eSIM for Italy, only the cheaper one for your trip length. Airalo’s page showed the same price or less from 3 to 10 days, and Yesim’s page showed less from 15 days. At 3 days both showed EUR 10.50. We have tested neither, so this is a price rule, not a quality ranking.
Trips of 3 to 10 days
All figures are unlimited plans in euros, as each page printed them on 2026-10-31. Prices change often, so open each page and compare the same number of days.
| Days | Airalo unlimited | Yesim unlimited | Cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | EUR 10.50 | EUR 10.50 | Level |
| 5 | EUR 16.00 | EUR 17.50 | Airalo by EUR 1.50 |
| 7 | EUR 21.50 | EUR 24.50 | Airalo by EUR 3.00 |
| 10 | EUR 29.50 | EUR 29.94 | Airalo by EUR 0.44 |
Trips of 15 to 30 days
The longer plans flip the other way, and the gap stays small.
| Days | Airalo unlimited | Yesim unlimited | Cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | EUR 40.50 | EUR 39.00 | Yesim by EUR 1.50 |
| 30 | EUR 59.00 | EUR 57.00 | Yesim by EUR 2.00 |
What if your trip is 4, 6, 12 or 20 days?
Airalo lists only six lengths: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. If your trip falls between two of them, you buy the next one up. Yesim lists every day from 1 to 30, so in the gaps it is the cheaper page. Match your exact number of days against both pages before you pay.
- 4 days: Yesim EUR 14.00, while Airalo has no 4-day plan and its next one is 5 days at EUR 16.00.
- 6 days: Yesim EUR 21.00, while Airalo’s next plan is 7 days at EUR 21.50.
- 12 days: Yesim EUR 33.56, while Airalo’s next plan is 15 days at EUR 40.50.
- 20 days: Yesim EUR 45.00, while Airalo’s next plan is 30 days at EUR 59.00.
The 1 and 2 day plans exist only on the Yesim page, at EUR 3.50 and EUR 7.00.
Does an Italy eSIM include calls, texts or a hotspot?
Yesim lists its Italy plan as data only, so it has no phone number for calls or texts. Its hotspot line reads “depends on operator”. The Airalo text we read did not state the plan type or the hotspot. Not stated is not the same as missing, so check the brand page first if you need either.
- Yesim: data only, and the hotspot depends on the operator.
- Airalo: it names Wind Tre and one more network. Plan type, phone number and hotspot were not stated in the text we read.
- If your bank sends login codes by text, keep your home SIM on for texts.
How long can you wait before activating an Italy eSIM?
Yesim says its Italy plan can be activated within 180 days of purchase. The Airalo text we read did not state an activation window. Check the window on the brand’s page before you buy early, because a plan you cannot start in time is money lost.
- Yesim lists a 180-day window from purchase, and the Airalo text we read lists none.
Does Saily work in Italy?
We could not check, because Saily’s Italy page showed a bot check on 2026-10-31 and our script could not read it. We did not copy a price from anywhere else. Saily turns up in searches next to Italy eSIM, so you may want it in the comparison: open its page and compare the same number of days.
If you add Saily to your shortlist, compare the same number of days and the same currency as in the tables above.

Check price on Yesim (affiliate link)What this page could not check
- Speed, signal and coverage, which need a test on the ground that we did not make.
- Saily, whose Italy page showed a bot check on 2026-10-31 so we did not read it.
- Fixed-data plans in gigabytes, because we read the unlimited plans only.
- Speed caps or fair-use limits on the unlimited plans, which the text we read did not state for either brand.
- Local Italian SIM cards and your home carrier’s roaming plan. We read neither, so this page cannot say how they compare with an eSIM.
- Whether your phone supports the plan, which Airalo’s Italy page lets you check first.
- Any price change after 2026-10-31, which the tables above do not show.

How we made this page
We open each brand's Italy page in a browser, read the page text, save a screenshot, and write down the unlimited plan prices in euros and the plan facts the page prints. The Yesim day list comes from its days menu. We do not test speed or coverage, and we copy no seller text. Saily showed a bot check, so we did not read it.
Research and first drafts are AI-assisted. Every figure comes from open data listed on the page with its source and date, and a person reviews each page before it goes live.
