Short answer: on 2026-10-15 KKday listed five Tokyo day tours from EUR 39.63 to EUR 50.95 per adult, to Mt. Fuji and Hakone, Nikko, or Kamakura and Yokohama. Rule: price the railway’s own pass first, at EUR 9.25 for Kamakura and EUR 16.91 for a Nikko shrines day. For a Nikko day with the lake, the all-area pass is the one that lists the cruise, at EUR 45.10 against EUR 50.95 for the Shinjuku tour. We read no public-transport fare to the Fuji lakes.

A tour trades money for a fixed day: one pickup time and one driver. We read five KKday product pages in a browser on 2026-10-15 and took a screenshot of each. We also read the pass pages of Tobu Railway for Nikko and Odakyu for Hakone and Enoshima-Kamakura. The tour prices are KKday “from” prices for one adult, so what you pay depends on the package and date you pick. Pass prices are the railways’ adult fares.

Which day trip do you want?

  • A volcano and a lake: Fuji and Hakone, or the Kawaguchiko tour, EUR 44.16 from each. Add your own lunch.
  • Shrines, a waterfall and a mountain lake: Nikko from Shinjuku, EUR 50.95 from, or EUR 74.30 with lunch and tickets.
  • The sea, a coastal train and a city skyline at night: Kamakura and Yokohama, EUR 39.63 from. For Kamakura alone, the pass costs EUR 9.25.

How much does a day trip from Tokyo cost?

The five tours cost EUR 39.63 to EUR 50.95 per adult, from the cheapest package on each page. The pages list 10 to 10.5 hours each. The Kamakura tour is cheapest and Nikko from Shinjuku is dearest. That EUR 11.32 gap is not the whole story, because each page leaves out different things.

Tour or train: Fuji, Nikko and Kamakura

Is a tour to Mt. Fuji worth it?

Both Fuji tours cost EUR 44.16 from, and they differ in route: Hakone and Lake Ashi on one, the Kawaguchiko ropeway on the other. We read no public-transport fare to the Fuji lakes, so we do not say a tour is cheaper there. For Hakone alone we can: Odakyu’s 2-day pass from Shinjuku is EUR 4.14 below the Fuji and Hakone tour.

  • Fuji and Hakone (142196): stops include Hakone Shrine, Owakudani and Oshino Hakkai. The page says the Lake Ashi pirate ship is at your own cost. Its exclusion list also names attraction tickets and meals. We could not tell from the page whether the ropeway ticket is inside the price. It also lists a small-group package (4 to 9 people, hotel pickup) and a private charter. We did not read their prices.
  • Kawaguchiko (150665): the page lists a ropeway ride as complimentary and meals as excluded. Weekend and holiday departures meet one hour earlier, at 07:50 or 08:20. The adult price applies from age 4.
  • Hakone Freepass: 7,100 JPY (EUR 40.02) for 2 days from Shinjuku, on Odakyu’s pass page read on 2026-10-15. Its page describes unlimited travel around Hakone. It is a smaller area, with no Fuji lakes stop.

Should you take a tour to Nikko or the train?

For shrines only, the railway is cheaper. Tobu’s two-day World Heritage pass costs 3,000 Japanese yen (JPY), or EUR 16.91, and includes one round trip between Asakusa and Shimo-Imaichi. Its page does not list Lake Chuzenji. For the lake, the pass that lists the cruise is the four-day all-area one at EUR 45.10. The one tour that lists the lake for sure, from Shinjuku, costs EUR 50.95 from.

Option Adult price In EUR Valid Lake Chuzenji on the page Notes from the page
Tobu Nikko Pass, world heritage area 3,000 JPY 16.91 2 days Not listed One Asakusa to Shimo-Imaichi round trip, Tobu buses in the area
Tobu Nikko Pass, all area 8,000 JPY 45.10 4 days Cruise listed, in season Adds all Tobu bus lines in Nikko

Both pass pages say a limited express train costs extra, and shrine and temple admission is not included. A tour gives you a driver and a fixed time. The pass leaves the timetable to you.

  • Nikko from Ginza (12060): two plans. Plan A covers Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls and a hot spring, with a Chinese or Japanese speaking guide. Plan B covers Toshogu Shrine and Edo Wonderland, with no lake. The page does not say which plan carries EUR 45.29. Both need 15 travellers to depart. The two solo-departure packages were marked “sold out” when we read the page on 2026-10-15.
  • Nikko from Shinjuku (136040): the page lists a package with meal and tickets and one without. We matched EUR 50.95 to the one without, because the discount tag sits on it. The package with both showed EUR 74.30, EUR 23.35 more. English is among the guide languages listed.

Do you need a tour for Kamakura?

Probably not for the trip itself. Odakyu’s Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass costs 1,640 JPY (EUR 9.25) for one day from Shinjuku, and its page lists unlimited rides on local trains in the area. The Kamakura tour costs EUR 39.63 from, EUR 30.38 more. The tour adds a guide and a Yokohama night stop, and it returns at 20:25.

The pass page also lists a child price of 430 JPY (EUR 2.42). We did not check what the pass fare covers on the way from Shinjuku. The tour page lists attraction tickets and meals as excluded. It names Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Enoshima and the Enoden train among the stops. On the tour, adults are age 12 and over, and children aged 3 to 11 pay the adult price.

What do you still pay for, and what are the booking limits?

  • What does the “from” price leave out? Meals, on all five tours, and entry tickets on most. Nikko from Shinjuku shows the gap best: its lunch-and-tickets package costs EUR 23.35 more than the EUR 50.95 one. Fuji and Hakone, and Kamakura, list attraction tickets as excluded. Only Fuji and Hakone shows a hotel pickup package, and we did not read its price.
  • Does the tour run? Both Fuji pages showed a “guaranteed departure” label on 2026-10-15. Nikko from Ginza needs 15 travellers, Nikko from Shinjuku 6 and Kamakura 4. The pages say a tour below its minimum is cancelled and an email follows.
  • Can you cancel? Yes, for free, up to 1 day before departure (Fuji and Hakone) or up to 11 days before (Nikko from Ginza). The other deadlines are in the table.
  • How long is the day? The listed hours understate it on some tours. On the clock, Fuji and Hakone runs from 07:15 to 19:00, which is 11 hours 45 minutes. Nikko from Shinjuku runs from 07:50 to 18:50, which is 11 hours. Kamakura starts later, at 10:45, and ends at 20:25. Return times on the pages are for reference only and shift with traffic.

What this page could not check

  • Klook. We did not read its Tokyo tours, so only KKday is in this comparison.
  • Prices of the small-group and private packages, which plan the Nikko from Ginza price belongs to, and whether any of its packages has an English guide.
  • Public-transport fares to Mt. Fuji, and the cost of limited express trains to Nikko and Hakone.
  • Whether a tour sells out. The calendar shows dates, not seats left.
  • Price changes after 2026-10-15.

How we made this page

We open each KKday product page and each rail pass page in a browser, read the price and the listed terms, and take a screenshot of each. Yen prices are the railways' own. Euro figures for them are our conversion at the ECB reference rate of 2026-10-14. We do not copy seller text, we have not joined any of these tours, and we have not ridden these trains.

Research and first drafts are AI-assisted. Every figure comes from open data listed on the page with its source and date, and a person reviews each page before it goes live.
